Insurance Industry Reaction to International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Position Statement on Key Financial Stability Issues

Leading insurance economics think tank, The Geneva Association, has issued a letter to the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of the G-20 in advance of their upcoming meeting in Toronto on 26 and 27 June. The letter highlights the findings of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) in their 4 June statement on Key Financial Stability Issues and calls on the G20 to take into account existing and impending insurance regulation and the specific characteristics of insurance from other financial services in any regulatory responses.

Ernst Meyer Prize 2017 awarded to Dr Arnaud Goussebaïle for doctoral thesis on Prevention and Insurance of Natural Disasters

The Geneva Association has awarded the Ernst Meyer Prize, presented in recognition for a doctoral thesis which makes a significant contribution to the study of risk and insurance economics, to Dr Arnaud Goussebaïle for his dissertation on Prevention and Insurance of Natural Disasters.

In light of the implications of our changing climate, The Geneva Association is calling on delegates now meeting in Warsaw for the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties to recognise the importance of countrywide disaster risk reduction measures and risk-conscious urban planning and building standards. In a report published in June, the Association provided a series of case studies to show the effective forms of collaboration between governments and insurers that create greater physical and financial resilience from disasters.

The Geneva Association and the International Insurance Society (IIS) have announced the winners of their collaborative insurance research program, the Shin Research Excellence Awards, which is endowed by Kyobo Life Insurance Company. The selected Shin Research Scholars will present their research during the IIS 51th Annual Seminar in New York, June 14th-17th, attended by 500+ senior insurance leaders from around the globe.

The Geneva Association Appoints Anna Maria D'Hulster as Secretary General

Leading international insurance economics think tank, The Geneva Association, today announced the appointment of Anna Maria D'Hulster as Secretary General and Managing Director. Ms D'Hulster has held a number of senior executive and Board roles in the ins urance industry and joins The Geneva Association from SwissQuant Group, Zurich, where she has been Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Management Board since 2013.
